What the movie is about
Patrick Bateman is a seemingly ordinary man. He has a prestigious job, his social circle consisting of people like him, his fiancée and his mistress. But when night comes in the city, he turns into a sophisticated killer, reveling in every crime he commits, pouring all the fire of his burning anger on random people.
Once he tastes murder, he can't stop, his thirst gets harder and harder to quench, and the climax gets closer and closer.

Don't judge a book by its cover.
Patrick works on Wall Street, his schedule is packed for the week ahead, but all his thoughts are occupied only with his appearance. Cosmetic masks, prestigious suits and restaurants, a circle of acquaintances, created only to praise the design of his business card or listen to his smug speeches - everything in his life is built around appearance.
But behind the outer beauty lies a beast that has no mercy on any living soul. Patrick is not only a narcissist, he is a psychopath: it is absolutely normal for him to kill anyone, and it is as if the people around him do not notice the traces of his nightly entertainment, they only care about the outer shell.
A caricature?
In some ways, the movie is a mockery of American society. Caricatured personalities, caring only about appearance and prestige, about the fact that their apartment is more expensive and they visit only the best restaurants. And no one cares what you have inside, no one thinks about it and does not pay attention to such trifles.
It's a world of civil liberties, where people are free to do whatever they want. Chase a prostitute down the hall with a chainsaw? It's his personal space, he has the right to do it! Anyway, why can you not like such a handsome looking young man, do you even know how much his suit costs?
Is it worth watching?
The movie shows not only how deceptive appearances can be and what may lie behind them, it also has a unique charm of the main character, whether it is a social dinner or the murder of a homeless man. Whether you consider this movie to be one of the best or you just want to spend an evening watching a good movie, the answer is the same: it's worth watching.
