Education and career
Anna Varga was born in Moscow to a family of scientists and received her primary education in the capital. After successfully graduating from the Faculty of Psychology at the Moscow State University in 1978, she began her professional career by providing counseling within the framework of the USSR's first psychological service for parents facing problems in raising their children. In the following years, Anna continued to teach at the Lenin Moscow State University, where she held the position of Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Psychology and Pedagogy.
Refocusing her career on family counseling in the late 80's, she invested considerable effort in the development and implementation of innovative approaches to family psychotherapy. These efforts culminated in the creation of the Society of Family Relationship Counseling Psychotherapists. From 1990 to 2014, Anna headed the Department of Systemic Family Psychotherapy at the private institute for advanced training of psychologists and continues her work at the National Research University Higher School of Economics from 2014 to the present.

"Family is big, complicated and very much loved."
Anna Varga's life seems to be completely absorbed by research and teaching activities, including writing dissertations, lectures and reports. Nevertheless, she finds time for her family, which plays a particularly important role for her. Long walks in undiscovered cities, meeting fascinating people, watching movies and reading literature serve as a source of inspiration for her prolific work. Her ambition to remain active into her centenary years is a vivid expression of her life's work and a harbinger of new scholarly works and books.
Books
In her monographs "Systemic Psychotherapy of Married Couples" and "Systemic Family Psychotherapy. Course of lectures" Anna Varga considers actual problems of family relations, offering solutions and methods of prevention. Both books are written in an accessible language, making them useful both for specialists in the field of psychology and for a wide range of readers interested in the issues of the modern family.
Testing
Our website presents the "Parental Attitude Test", developed on the basis of the theories of Anna Varga and V. Stolin. This technique is designed to diagnose the attitudes to children on the part of both fathers and mothers. Under the attitude a complex of factors is meant, including the emotional component, rational approach and behavioral aspects.
