Are you in danger of having a stroke?

A stroke is a sudden disruption of the normal blood supply to the brain. As a rule, strokes are more common in warm weather because of dehydration. Also, many people have high blood pressure in hot weather, which can also provoke a stroke. It is therefore important to drink enough water.

There are two types of stroke:

  • Ischemic (compression or blockage of the cerebral arteries occurs);
  • Hemorrhagic (hemorrhage into the substance of the brain due to rupture of a blood vessel).

Treatment tactics for different types of stroke are also radically different. In ischemic stroke it is important to thin the blood and even in the first 4 hours it is possible to perform thrombolysis (dissolution of the thrombus). In hemorrhagic stroke it will be categorically contraindicated. It is therefore important to correctly recognize the condition of the patient and hospitalize him or her as soon as possible.

Before the ambulance arrives, it is necessary to:

  • Raise the upper part of the person's body and head (use 2 pillows);
  • Provide fresh air (if indoors, open all windows);
  • Do not move the person, you should not try to put the person on the bed. This can be dangerous;
  • Unbutton all constricting clothing, belt, tie.

We offer you a test, thanks to which you can find out whether you have a predisposition to stroke. Read the statements and choose the answer closest to you.
