Affect
Affect is an immediate and intense emotional experience accompanied by strong physical and internal reactions. It usually occurs when a person faces critical circumstances and has difficulty choosing an appropriate response to stressors.
Affective states can be triggered by physical threats, such as danger to one’s health, as well as by social factors, such as injustice or an insult. Emotional reactions during an affective state can be brief and intense, and they may influence a person’s behavior at the time they occur.
