Ahasuerus syndrome – a condition in which a person develops physical and psychological dependence on alcohol or drugs. People with this syndrome may wander endlessly among different medical institutions in order to obtain the narcotic substances they need. Sometimes they use feigned symptoms of illness or even injure themselves to convince doctors or medical staff to give them access to drugs or alcohol. This syndrome is a serious problem and requires specialized intervention and treatment.
