Alateen is a voluntary, informal support group for teenagers ages 13 to 19 whose lives are affected by alcoholism in one or both of their parents or guardians.

Alateen's main goal is to provide young people with a safe place where they can share their feelings, experiences, and concerns and receive support from others going through similar situations.

Alateen holds regular meetings where teenagers can discuss their feelings, share stories, and find ways to cope with alcohol dependence in their families. Alateen groups are often based on the same principles of anonymity and confidentiality as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Al-Anon groups for relatives and friends of people with alcoholism.
