Anorexia nervosa

Anorexia nervosa, or nervous anorexia, is a serious psychological disorder characterized by disturbed eating behavior and excessive restriction of food intake. This disorder is often accompanied by acute anxiety about weight and body shape, even if the person is actually in a state of exhaustion and malnutrition.

The main signs of anorexia nervosa may include:

  1. Deliberate restriction of food intake, leading to significant weight loss and malnutrition.
  2. An irrational fear of gaining weight and a desire to keep losing weight.
  3. Denial of one’s actual body shape and weight despite obvious emaciation.
  4. Perfectionism and obsessive behavior regarding food, exercise, and control over the body.
  5. Physical and emotional consequences such as weakness, fatigue, depression, cardiac arrhythmias, and other illnesses.
