Autonomy

Autonomy – is a person’s ability and right to make decisions concerning their own life independently and on the basis of their own values, beliefs, and preferences. In psychology, autonomy is viewed as an important aspect of psychological health and well-being, implying an individual’s capacity to act in accordance with their true desires and interests.

Autonomy is closely related to the concepts of self-determination and personal responsibility. It allows an individual to develop, independently set and achieve goals, as well as establish personal boundaries and protect their rights.

An example of autonomy is a person’s decision to change professions or begin a new way of life based on their own beliefs and preferences rather than on pressure from society or other people.
