Bluffing (англ. Bluff) – is a tactic or strategy in which a person presents themself as stronger, more confident, or as having greater resources than is actually the case, in order to mislead other people. Bluffing is often used in games, negotiations, or social interactions as a way to achieve a desired result without revealing one’s true intentions or weaknesses.
Bluffing can include various methods, such as verbal statements, body language, emotional reactions, and other forms of nonverbal communication. The goal of bluffing is to convince other people that the person bluffing possesses certain qualities, knowledge, or abilities that they do not actually have.
In the context of games such as poker, bluffing is used as a way to convince opponents of the strength of one’s hand, which can lead to winning despite having weak cards. In business negotiations, bluffing may be used to create the impression of a more advantageous position than actually exists, in order to obtain more favorable deal terms.
