Cycloid type

Cycloid type of character accentuation, proposed by the Russian psychiatrist and psychologist A. E. Lichko, is characterized by alternating periods of increased activity and good mood with periods of low mood and fixation on the gloomy aspects of reality. These mood changes may be related both to external events and environmental influences and may also arise without an obvious reason.

People with cycloid accentuation may perceive the world differently at different times. Their emotional state and attitude toward others may change over time, which makes their mood variable.

The cycloid type of character accentuation does not necessarily indicate the presence of psychopathology or mental disorders. Rather, it represents a character trait that may be expressed in a person's behavior and reactions to various life events.
