Developmental crises

Developmental crises – are periods of change in a person's life when they move from one stage of development to another. In each such transition, a person faces new tasks characteristic of that age.

In his research, L. S. Vygotsky introduced the concept of «age-related transformations» in Russian psychology, describing them as radical changes in a child's personality at transitional points between stable stages of development. Research shows that developmental crises can have a significant impact on a person's life. For example, adolescents going through this transitional period often display negative behavior, such as rebellion and conflicts with others.

However, it is worth noting that not all scholars consider this behavior an inevitable part of the crisis. Some believe that negative behavior at this time may be the result of inappropriate relationships between the child and adults.

In any case, developmental crises are periods of challenges and changes in a person's life that can affect their development and self-understanding.
