Epilepsy

Epilepsy is a chronic neuropsychiatric disorder characterized by paroxysmal (seizure-like) states, such as epileptic seizures, as well as mental disturbances. Epilepsy has many causes and risk factors, and it can present in different forms and levels of severity.

The main symptom of epilepsy is epileptic seizures. These seizures can manifest in various ways, including convulsions, loss of consciousness, abnormal behavior, and other symptoms associated with neuronal excitation in the brain.

Epilepsy can have many causes, including genetic factors, problems of intrauterine development, infections, injuries, tumors, and other medical conditions. Various methods are used to diagnose and treat epilepsy, including neurophysiological studies, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and other medical examinations.
