Gender role

Gender role (English: gender role). It is defined as a set of expectations and standards of behavior that society has traditionally assigned to men and women. These roles are formed and modified under the influence of cultural, social, and historical factors, and vary depending on the cultural and social context.

In psychology, gender roles are studied from the perspective of their influence on personality development, self-esteem, interpersonal interactions, and perception of the surrounding world. They can influence career choice, educational aspirations, and behavioral patterns in various social situations.

Examples of gender roles may include stereotypes that men are usually more aggressive and independent, whereas women are often assigned roles associated with emotional responsiveness and caregiving.
