Intelligence quotient

Intelligence quotient (IQ) is a term used to denote a numerical estimate of a person's mental abilities obtained through specialized tests. The purpose of these tests is to measure various aspects of cognitive function, including analytical abilities, memory, spatial perception, and language skills. The generally accepted standard considers an IQ score of around 100 to be average, while results above or below this value indicate corresponding deviations from the average level.

In psychology, intelligence quotient is used as one of the tools for assessing mental abilities; however, it does not encompass all facets of intelligence, such as creativity, emotional intelligence, or interpersonal skills.
