Introjection

Introjection — is a psychological process in which a person internally accepts and assimilates other people’s ideas, values, norms of behavior, or feelings, not always being aware of this process. This defense mechanism can serve as a method of supporting and modifying one’s own “self”.

Introjection often influences the formation of self-esteem and worldview, allowing the individual to adapt to the social environment and adjust their behavior in accordance with accepted standards and expectations. However, if the adopted structures or values conflict with personal beliefs and goals, this can lead to internal conflicts and psychological tension.
