Research method

Research method includes a set of rules, procedures, techniques, and tools used to conduct scientific research and obtain empirical information. This term covers various aspects of scientific research, and depending on the context, it may refer to different aspects of the research process. It is important to distinguish several ways of understanding a research method:

  1. Method as a research design: This aspect of a research method concerns the overall plan or design of the study. For example, it may be an experimental design that determines how an experiment is conducted, or a random sampling design in survey research.

  2. Method as a data collection technique: This aspect is related to the specific methods and techniques used to collect information. These may include survey methods, observation, interviews, structured questionnaires, and so on. Each technique has its own principles and rules for data collection.

  3. Method as ways of processing data: This aspect of a research method concerns methods of data analysis and interpretation. It includes statistical analysis methods, hypothesis testing, multivariate data analysis, and other methods of information processing aimed at drawing meaningful conclusions.

Successful scientific research requires the correct choice of research methods at each stage, starting with research planning, then data collection, and finally the analysis and interpretation of results. The choice of methods depends on the specific research task, available resources, and scientific goals.
