Psychasthenic type

The psychasthenic type of character accentuation, according to G.A. Lichko’s classification, describes people with certain character and behavioral traits. Here are some features of this type:

  1. Increased sensitivity and anxiety: Psychasthenic individuals are characterized by heightened sensitivity to their environment and pronounced anxiety. They may experience many doubts and worries about many aspects of their lives.

  2. Self-doubt: Psychasthenic individuals tend to be unsure of their own abilities and to doubt their decisions. They may suffer from feelings of inadequacy and often question whether their actions are correct.

  3. Indecisiveness: These people may doubt and analyze every decision excessively, which makes it difficult for them to make decisions and take action.

  4. Conscientiousness: The psychasthenic type of character accentuation is often combined with high conscientiousness. They may be very responsible and caring.

  5. Self-criticism: Psychasthenic individuals tend to criticize their own actions and behavior. They may be harsh toward themselves and set excessively high standards.

  6. Tendency toward self-analysis: These people may deeply analyze their feelings and actions, striving to understand themselves and their motives.

The psychasthenic type of character accentuation can have both positive and negative sides. On the one hand, high conscientiousness can make them reliable and responsible workers. On the other hand, excessive anxiety and indecisiveness can interfere with daily life and lead to excessive stress.
