Delusion is a psychopathological symptom characterized by persistent false beliefs that do not correspond to reality and are not amenable to correction even when confronted with contradictory information. Delusional beliefs are extremely realistic to the person experiencing them and are often accompanied by strong emotional experiences.
In psychology and psychiatry, delusion is regarded as a sign of various mental disorders, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and some organic brain disorders. Delusional beliefs may take various forms, including paranoid delusions, delusions of grandeur, persecutory delusions, and others.
