Self-awareness

Self-awareness is the ability to recognize one's individuality, including personal thoughts, emotions, aspirations, self-perception, and behavior. It is the process by which a person recognizes themselves as a unique individual with distinct feelings, motives, and characteristics.

It encompasses not only the perception of one's internal states but also an awareness of how one expresses oneself when interacting with the outside world and society. This includes awareness of one's strengths and weaknesses, values, beliefs, and ambitions.

Developing self-awareness is fundamental to personal growth and self-actualization. It provides better control over emotions, helps people make well-considered decisions, set life goals, and improve relationships with others.
Self-awareness also plays a significant role in psychological health by promoting deep self-understanding, reducing internal conflicts, and increasing life satisfaction.
