Vergence eye movements in the human visual apparatus are specialized large-scale movements involved in regulating visual focus on objects located at different distances. These movements include a range of activities: convergence, in which the eyes move inward to view objects that are closer; divergence, when the eyes move outward toward more distant objects; as well as torsional corrections, which adjust retinal orientation in response to changes in the position of the head or the observed object. These processes support binocular vision, providing three-dimensional and detailed perception of the surrounding world.
