Is your child ready for school and will they be able to adapt quickly?

Every parent has a lot of worries and doubts before their child enters school: at what age should they start school? What should your child know and be able to do when entering school? Should a child be able to read and count at preschool age? There is no single correct answer to these questions. Each child is unique and each has their own way of development. But one thing is firmly asserted: to prepare your child to study at school is necessary. This will facilitate their adaptation in the first grade and will help in further learning. Your child will feel more confident, having enough skills and knowledge.

But what does it mean to be ready for school? It does not mean that your child must be able to read and write. Being ready for school means being ready to learn all of these things.

Therefore, school readiness includes a set of knowledge, skills and abilities that a child should possess. There are several generally accepted classifications of a child's readiness for school: physiological, psychological, and cognitive. All of them should be harmoniously combined in a preschooler.

Physiological readiness is based on the state of health, reflects the development of fine motor skills, coordination of movements.

Psychological readiness is the intellectual and social sphere, which reflects the mental maturity of the preschooler.

Cognitive readiness includes the ability to act according to a plan, mastery of such operations as comparison, analysis, synthesis, generalization.

We offer you some aspects that can be used to prepare children for school:

Math. The future pupil should be able to count from 1 to 10 and backwards, know the signs ">", "<", "=", orient in space and on a piece of paper (left, right, above, below).

Memory. The child should be able to memorize a sequence of 10 pictures, retell short stories of 4-5 sentences, memorize short poems.

Thinking. A preschooler should be able to finish sentences, find inconsistencies in pictures, and put puzzles together.

Speech. The child should be able to form complete sentences, make a story based on pictures, answer questions about a text, distinguish sounds in words.

Environment. Preschooler should know colors, trees, birds, animals, insects, natural phenomena, days of the week, seasons, their city name, address, names of close relatives.
