If you are a fan of psychology and detectives, then the series "Lie to me" is just a godsend! Psychological detective combined intrigue, which is kept until the end of each series, and psychological techniques taken as a basis for unraveling cases. The books in question are Dr. Paul Ekman's "The Psychology of Lying. Fool Me If You Can" and "Recognize a Liar by Facial Expressions," which describe non-verbal methods of recognizing lies. Ekman's principles and formed the basis of the protagonist's talent.

"He sees the truth. It's written on our faces."

Surely you would agree with the fact that all people lie. Intentionally or unintentionally, for the benefit of others or for their own good - it doesn't matter. The fact remains unchanged: everyone lies. This is exactly what Dr. Cal Lightman, who has spent his life studying the theory of deception, believes. For him it is not difficult to determine in a couple of minutes whether a person is lying or telling the truth.

Lightman only needs to notice one awkward movement, a characteristic facial expression or a change in intonation, and the liar will be exposed. His agency is called upon by people who can't get justice, wrongly imprisoned people, confused police officers, government with special assignments, Congress.

Is this gift a punishment or a reward? Helping people to fight the lies that sometimes destroy destinies, Lightman remains unhappy, for can one be happy knowing the whole truth? The moral aspect of the series makes the characters agonize, weighing all the pros and cons, coming face to face with the consequences of their choice between truth and lies.

The storyline goes vertically, i.e. each series is filmed as a separate mini-movie. It has nothing connected with the previous one, except for the characters and their relationships. Another feature of the series is its practical usefulness: after the interrogations conducted by the doctor, he explains in great detail the essence of the method, commenting on this or that facial expression, intonation or movement, accompanied by photographs-examples. This is very useful information that may come in handy in your life if you happen to need to recognize a lie.

Tim Roth

The main role of the lie detector was played by the incomparable Tim Roth. Sometimes you get a feeling that it was written exclusively for him. Charismatic professional, self-confident, with a discerning eye, seeing all attempts to deceive, sometimes eccentric and epathetic. Brilliantly done by Tim Roth this work will not leave you indifferent, his character attracts and fascinates, makes you empathize and laugh, wonder with indignation. His cynicism and charm leave the viewer in mixed feelings, but you'll surely love him in the end!
